Britain s start-up rescue package failed female founders who received a shocking level of funding compared to their male peers, industry leaders have said.
Figures released from the British Business Bank showed that just £13.7m of convertible loans were approved for companies whose senior management teams were all women, compared to £216.6m for all male teams.
In total, those led by women received just over 1pc of all the funding under the scheme, whereas around a fifth went to companies led entirely by men. The remainder was approved for those with mixed gender teams.
