Nearly two months after the protests were first ignited, the people of Iran continue to march in the streets, despite increasing violence, internet blackouts and arrests, while Canadians support them overseas, organizing rallies in response.
The second-largest Iranian diaspora in the world is in the Greater Toronto Area and the community is feeling the impacts of the uprising and harsh crackdowns of the last couple of months, made worse by the uncertainty of communications blackouts.
Sara Shariati, a graduate student at the University of Toronto, says communicating with friends and family has been difficult since the protests began.
