old, has been here every day of jury selection and every day of trial. where s she at? she s over there. so let s thank that shero, miss polite. god bless. it s people like her why we got justice. all right. we ve been listening to very passionate, stirring speeches there from ahmaud arbery s parents as well as from their supporters and their lawyers, their legal team as well as the prosecutor of the case. and, sara, i just think so much of it harkens back to what you and ryan were talking about, all of the obstacles that this family faced in the case, including no one being charged,
camerota. after 11 1/2 hours of deliberations, jurors find all three defendants in the ahmaud arbery murder trial guilty of murder. ahmaud arbery s mother, wanda, was visibly emotional as the verdict was read. you can see that crowds outside of the courthouse are chanting ahmaud arbery as the guilty verdicts came in and were celebrating. let s go straight to sara isidnr and ryan young. tell us the reaction you re seeing around you, guys. reporter: we re just outside the court where people have been, waiting in chairs sometimes, sometimes milling about. they have now all gathered out in front of the courthouse, the courthouse steps where we have seen the mother of ahmaud arbery and her attorneys, lee merritt, going in and out of court every single day of this trial. they have been chanting his name, they have been saying we ve got justice.
burglary. this family has been buoyed by these lawyers who tried to help guide them through this justice process. you also have to think the gbi came in. georgia changed the law. that law of citizens arrest no longer exists in this state. sara, people have been talking to you about that as well. reporter: they have been. one of the things that people forget, the jury did not know this but the public did. the jury was not allowed to use this in their deliberations, but there were two, not one, but two prosecuting attorneys who recused themself in this case before this ever even got into the hands the police on the scene of a man who was dead did no arresting at that scene, no detaining, for example, no bringing people in in a fast manner and no charges from the d.a. now, one of those d.a.s ended up getting going in front of a grand jury and there are charges now pending against her because of her actions in this
passed but in this case, in georgia, they have made changes already. reporter: and we have to mention one more thing. there are more charges coming, federal charges. so that s a whole other potential trial or maybe they make a deal, i don t know. but there are more charges coming. right now these three men are facing life in prison without parole if that is what the judge decides. we know that s what the prosecution is going to be asking for. but that is the potential sentence for each and every one of these men who all were convicted of several counts of murder. sara and ryan, thank you so much. please stand by. i do want to go back to our legal panel right now for some of those very questions that sara and ryan just raised. i want to go to you first, laura coates, because we re just getting response from the defense, from that attorney, laura hogue, who had made those comments about ahmaud arbery s appearance that struck so many as racist tropes. have you seen her response yet, l
