The Lebanon High girls lacrosse team escaped Kearsarge with a second straight hard-fought win on Thursday afternoon, an 8-6 nailbiter over the Cougars in summer-like conditions. The win is the second this week for the Raiders (9-3) over Kearsarge following an 11-10 win in Lebanon on Tuesday. Catherine Cole led a balanced effort for the Raiders with three goals and an assist. “Overall, it was a great team effort. It’s a lot to play two tough games in three days against the same team,” Lebanon coach Sara Ecker said. “The girls came out focused and read to play today, having made some adjustments at practice yesterday.”

The Yellowjackets (3-2) combined seven hits with 15 walks and used them to earn a 19-3 win over Hartford in a five-inning Southern Vermont League softball contest at Hartford High School. As for the hit parade, Hannah Wood, Paige Kleefisch and Kate Murphy led the way by driving in three runs apiece. Wood and Murphy both went 2-for-3, and Kleefisch delivered all of her RBIs with a three-run homer in the third inning.

Hanover (1-4) entered the bottom of the fifth with a two-run lead and scored nine times in the frame to force the mercy rule. Freshman Sage Johnson drove in senior Grace Lewandowski on a sacrifice for the walk-off win. Senior Emilee Jones pitched all five innings for the Marauders.
