FRAMINGHAM An educator with local ties has been selected to lead Stapleton Elementary School effective July 1, the district announced Thursday.
Sara Costa Yuen is currently principal of the Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea, where she also served as a math and English language arts teacher. She also was a program director for the nonprofit Portuguese language school of the MetroWest Mission Hub (ProGente Connections).
Yuen also taught social studies in the Lawrence school district. I had the pleasure of working in Framingham several years ago and very much look forward to returning to the city. As a member of the Brazilian community and a Portuguese and Spanish speaker, I seek to ensure that all families feel included in the life of the school, she said in a statement.

FRAMINGHAM, MA Parents and residents will get a chance to meet the two finalists for the principal job at Stapleton Elementary School this week during a public forum, according to Framingham Public Schools.
Former Stapleton principal Anne Diaz stepped down from the job in February 2020 due to a medical issue. She had taken over the school in 2018. Brenda Maurao, the former FPS assistant director of elementary education, has been serving as interim principal since Diaz departed.
