thank you very much. joining me now, rick tyler, msnbc political analyst, and former communications director for ted cruz, jo watkins, republican strategist and former aide to president george h.w. pleasure to, and republican strategist formerly of the carly fiorina campaign. sar sarah, as a kpran strategy campaign strategy, we heard the issue about donald trump. is the controversy working? is trump is this controversy working for him? it might be working for his base. hillary clinton hasn t had a great week either. that being said, in the political rock, paper, scissors, sex scandal beats e-mail scandal every time. when it s working for his base or not, donald trump went into the week behind. he needed to build in order to overcome this, and i don t see how this is helping that at all. it is certainl think degrading his support, not building it. well, he s calling it a conspiracy and then called himself a victim of that. is that helping him?
reinforces the narrative that there s a problem. and you know, no matter what anybody says, most people think that wherever there s smoke there must be fire. so to have this as the central theme of the campaign for donald trump in the final weeks of the campaign is not good for him. and i think a lot of people i agree with rick that a lot of his supporters are itching to vote for him, to send a message. but i think that that number of people is dwindling. i think i think likewise that a lot of people who may have been on the fence before will vote for hillary clinton now because they ll say, you know, we just can t have this person leading our country. and take into account, sarah, we had president obama and the first lady talking about this controversy, and here s let s listen to some of michelle obama s speech. because this wasn t just rude conversation. this wasn t just locker room banter. this was a powerful individual speaking freely and openly about
richard, was unqualified for president. and that s where the reckoning now begins. the question now is not who s going to win campaign 2016, it s who was with donald trump and who was against him on the republican party when they had an opportunity to speak out against him. it is also a record of historical shame, i might add, historical shame, that this total opposition of the republican party against the backdrop of the nation s first minority president, would happen on the brink of the election of the nation s first female president. this is not going to be forgotten by the history books. to all three of you, we just got another tweet that came in from donald trump. and in that tweet, you see it here, the media and establishment want me out of the race so badly, i will never drop out of the race, will never let my supporters down. that just in from donald trump, as you can see, moments ago. i want to go to you on this, sar sarah. because you ve seen the list here. donald trump cle
that officer fatally shot 19-year-old quintonio legrier. police say legrier was acting combative. according to police, a 55-year-old neighbor, betty jones, was also shot. jones shot accidentally. she was killed during that encounter. nbc s sarah dallof has the latest from chicago, a very windy chicago, we should note here. sar sarah, tell us a little bit more about some of these police reforms announced by the mayor just a few hours ago. reporter: yeah, craig. chicago s mayor really responded quickly to these two new deaths. the first thing he talked about was reiterating a new department policy which places any officers involved in an incident of shooting like this one to be on administrative duty for the next 30 days while a review is conducted. the mayor is also separately calling for a review of the crisis intervention and deescalation policies that are in place right now. he says he wants to locate and address any deficiencies.
