Kashmir: Indian police tighten curbs on media coverage of gun battles

NC Condemns Assault On Journalists At Nowhatta
SRINAGAR: National Conference on Saturday condemned the thrashing of journalists by police at Jamia Masjid Nowhatta saying the impunity with which such attacks are taking place in Kashmir is ominous and reflective of the everyday reprisals faced by them in their line of duty.
“The reports of police action against two journalists Saqib Majid and Shafat Farooq, who were covering protests at Jamia Masjid, are distressing and condemnable,” said Party Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar while slamming the incident. “Such unwarranted attacks on journalists have become a norm now.
