IT WAS business as usual for shop owners yesterday until people stormed shops belonging to foreigners.
The group looted shops in the Durban CBD and even set some on fire before fleeing the scene.
Shop owner Saqab Imram told Daily Sun just after 8am, between 30 and 40 people stormed his shop where he sells cellphones, clothes and TVs.
“My brother was alone. They hit him before stealing money and burning the shop. They stole about R40 000,” he said.
Callistus Amaeshi said he was at his shop when the group attacked.
“I went out and called the police but they didn’t assist me,” he said.
