Apache Corporation Announces Fourth Consecutive Oil Discovery in Block 58 Offshore Suriname at Keskesi East-1 Well

On Jan. 14, 2021, Apache Corporation and Total S.A. announced an oil discovery at the Keskesi East-1 exploration well in Block 58 offshore Suriname. This follows the January, April and July 2020 announcements of discoveries at the Maka Central-1, Sapakara West-1 and Kwaskwasi-1 wells, respectively. The next exploration well on Block 58 will be at the Bonboni location.
HOUSTON, Jan. 14, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Apache Corporation (Nasdaq: APA) and Total S.A. (NYSE: TOT) today announced an oil discovery at the Keskesi East-1 exploration well in Block 58 offshore Suriname.
By Joshua Kirby Total SE said Thursday that it has made a new oil-and-gas discovery at its Suriname site alongside partner Apache Corp. The discovery at the Keskesi East-1 well at Block 58 off Suriname s coast encountered 63 meters net pay of hydrocarbons, the French energy giant said. It follows previous discoveries at Maka Central, Sapakara West and Kwaskwasi in the same area. We are also excited, as new operator of the block, to start the appraisal operations designed to characterize the 2020 discoveries, while in parallel start a second exploration campaign on this prolific block in 2021, said Total s Senior Vice President for Exploration, Kevin McLachlan. Total took over operations of Block 58 on Jan. 1.
