The president on Thursday delivered his SONA to Parliament in a nearly two-hour speech, where he detailed South Africa’s progress regarding unemployment, the electricity crisis, and corruption.
The soaring unemployment, rampant crime and continued corruption, even allegedly involving the president himself, Ramaphosa’s administration has left many South Africans disillusioned.
While he’s laid much of the blame for the struggling economy and high unemployment on the COVID-19 pandemic, analysts said Ramaphosa can’t shy away from not having been a more decisive leader.
