Sandeshkhali: Editors Guild says arrest of on-duty journalist in Sandeshkhali worrisome

The Editors Guild of India expressed concern over the arrest of television journalist Santu Pan by the West Bengal Police while he was reporting live. Pan, a journalist with Republic Bangla, was arrested from Sandeshkhali in West Bengal. The Guild called for a speedy inquiry into the matter, stating that while the police should investigate any allegations against the journalist, his arrest while on duty is worrisome. The Guild urged the West Bengal administration to ensure that no injustice is done to Pan and to protect freedom of the press.
