A man has pleaded guilty in relation to the shooting death of another male in a north Laredo neighborhood in 2017, according to court documents.
The District Attorney’s Office said on Friday that they secured a guilty plea in its case against Maurice Jerome Holmes, 41. He pleaded guilty to murder before 341st District Judge Beckie Palomo on Thursday.
Holmes will serve 40 years in prison. This case was prosecuted by Elizabeth Castillo, an assistant district attorney with the Border Prosecution Unit.
The case unfolded on Nov. 2, 2017, when Laredo police officers responded to a shooting at about 2:51 p.m. in the 300 block of International Boulevard. Responding officers learned that a man, Gabriel Diaz, 25, had been shot six times and that another male was seen running toward International Boulevard.
