Al Sadd remained on course of winning a record-extending 18th Amir Cup title after they recorded a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Al Arabi in the first semi-final at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium last night.
In a match completely dominated by Al Sadd, Nam Tae-hee scored the opener in 11th minute before a clinical hit by Baghdad Bounedjah (56th minute) and Santiago Cazorla’s spot kick in 80th minute sealed victory for the Xavi Hernandez-coached side.
Al Sadd had also defeated Al Arabi in the final of 2020 Amir Cup last December. ‘The Wolves’ will play the Amir Cup final on May 14 against the winner of second semi-final between Al Duhail and Al Rayyan, which will be played tonight at the same venue.

Reigning champions Al Sadd and QNB Stars League (QSL) winners Al Duhail will face off in the Qatar Cup final today, promising thrilling action in a battle of arch-rivals seeking first silverware of the on-going football season.
The match of the heavyweights is expected to produce an electrifying contest at Al Duhail Stadium, with kick off set for 4:45pm. Although seven-time champions Al Sadd – who dethroned Al Duhail with a 4-0 thrashing in last year’s final – are favourites in the title clash, Al Duhail are rated among the only few sides which have the potential to bring an end to Al Sadd’s unbeaten run this season. The Wolves under coach Xavi Hernandez are in outstanding form, with only one victory separating them from the QSL title.
