A West Mifflin man is facing over a dozen charges over accusations he opened fire outside of a club in Homestead and led police on a brief high-speed chase.
santana, even though you weren t prosecuted you were separated from your child for five days inside that detention center. can you tell us what that was like and how you felt. [ speaking in foreign language ] translator: i felt so sad and i was just destroyed. reporter: danny, can you tell us of this place where you were placed at away from your dad. [ speaking in foreign language ] there was a wire and what else, where were you sleeping? translator: i was sleeping on the floor on a blanket. reporter: keep in mind, alex, the trauma for these children begins long before they reach the border and are now separated from their parents. they come from this triangle in central america, many of them, honduras, guatemala, salvador,
heartbreaking stories which you shared with our broadcast here. what have they been telling you? reporter: i have been on the ground for two days speaking to the families and telling me about separation in detention when it comes to adult fathers and their children, that is nothing new. it also happened during the obama administration but it gives us a window into that trauma that you were referring to and right now, i m standing in front of a cvp processing center in mcallen, texas, where families are separated and processed after they cross the border. yesterday i spoke to santana cabrera, an immigrant from honduras and his 11-year-old child dani, separated for five days at a detention facility but in talking to them you can tell how these kids didn t really understand what was happening, even just for those five days. let s listen to a little bit of that interview.
