Wednesday about 150 students demonstrated on the Santa Rosa Junior College Front lawn calling for more racial equity from the school. While recognizing some progress from the Junior College, demonstrators said more needed to be done to increase opportunities and take down barriers for students and staff of color. The so called “Blackout” event coincided with a SRJC Academic Senate meeting with some faculty senators joining the rally in person or via zoom. Though out of town, Junior College President Dr. Frank Chong stated in an email earlier this week that the organizers of the event had his “full support.”
