Insurgency command worked so we can be in a better starting place the next time we do this thing. And it is reminder of the darned levers that a Strategic Commander like general petraeus has to pull. The ability to synchronize all of them is a rare trait, i would say, in a strategic and operati operational leader. Luckily we had two who could pull it off. A lot of the levers didnt exist early on in the war. And a lot of functional command were not present early in the war. So it is really only, i would argue, the later years of the tenure and command, general petraeus had to create his own levers to have the tools to address the complexity of the problem.
