SANTA FE – Less than a month after Los Alamos National Laboratory announced it would open an office in downtown Santa Fe to accommodate 75 workers, the lab said Monday that it is signing leases with two neighboring properties in another part of town to house 500 more employees.
The two buildings – Ark Plaza and Pollon Plaza – stand side by side on a hill near St. Michael’s Drive and Pacheco Street, next to a Smith’s grocery store. Both are two-story buildings of more than 39,000 square feet. A news release says the buildings will allow the lab to provide more room for offices, meeting rooms and co-work space.

Los Alamos National Laboratory is strengthening its presence in Santa Fe with the signing of a 10-year-lease of two adjacent office properties totaling 77,856 square feet of space at the corner of Pacheco Street and St. Michael’s Drive. The new location offers meeting rooms, permanent offices, and co-working space for roughly 500 employees in the Laboratory’s administrative services sectors, including human resources, procurement, finance, and information technology. No hazardous work will be carried out there.

New Mexico Chamber Of Commerce And 21 Other State Business Groups Take Aim At Legislative Priorities

The New Mexico Chamber of Commerce and 21 other state business groups including the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce are asking the Legislature to refocus the 60-day session on promoting long-term economic recovery and competitiveness.
The group made the request via an advertisement that ran in nine of the state’s largest papers, including the Wednesday issue of The New Mexican, and drew the ire of House Speaker Brian Egolf, who defended the Democratic-controlled Legislature’s work on economic issues.
New Mexico Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Rob Black said the Legislature should be focusing on legislation that improves New Mexico’s economic diversity and safeguard businesses as they reopen in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which he says will help the state promote a more friendly economic climate and catch up to neighboring states like Tex
