Local WWII Veteran Stars In Rescue Documentary Film George Keene, a longtime Newhall resident and World War II veteran, is featured in “Journey to Royal: A WWII Rescue Mission,” a new documentary/feature film hybrid about a pilot who leads a rescue mission during the Second World War. Last month, “Journey to Royal: A WWII Rescue Mission” was released on Video on Demand, DVD, and Blu-ray in both the United States and Canada. “WWII hero with the 4th Emergency Rescue Squadron, Lt. Royal Stratton, leads a deadly mission to save the lives of nine downed airmen adrift in enemy waters of a war-torn South Pacific,” the official synopsis for the film reads. “Immersive cinematography and gripping action, combined with firsthand accounts and historical images, showcase the valor of this squadron who faced overwhelming odds to bring their brothers home.”

Santa Clarita Community Remembers Veteran Historian Bill Reynolds Community advocate, Santa Clarita Valley veteran historian, and proud member of “The Boys of ‘67” William “Bill” Reynolds has died, family announced Monday. Reynolds was born on Aug. 5, 1946, in Mineral Wells, Texas. His mother and father had met in Sydney, Australia during the Pacific theater of World War II, and had returned to his father’s hometown to raise a family. The Reynolds family spent time in Texas, then Australia, then finally in the San Fernando Valley, where Bill would eventually graduate from Grover Cleveland High School on June 19, 1964. After a few years working at General Motors in Van Nuys, Reynolds would be drafted into the United States Army to fight in the Vietnam War.
