Photo courtesy of Zonta CLub Santa Clarita Valley Since its inception in 1995, the Virginia Wrage Memorial Fund has aided dozens of women with scholarships, ranging from $500 to $3,000. The recipients of these scholarships are facing complex life challenges, according to club officials. Some scholarship recipients have been returning students, working to support themselves and their families. Others have been victims of domestic abuse or are struggling single mothers. Some have even been on the verge of becoming homeless.

Young Women In Public Affairs Awards Offered By Zonta Club Of Santa Clarita Valley Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley is offering Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Awards to outstanding young women. Three winning applicants who attend local high schools or colleges and are 16-19 years of age on April 1, 2021 will receive an award up to $1,000. The 1st place winner will also have the potential to progress to Zonta’s District 9 award of $1,500 and Zonta International’s award of $5,000. Statistics show about 40% of the world’s workforce is women; however, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, an international organization of national parliaments, shows only 25.1% of all national parliamentarians were female as of October 2020.

SCV Zonta Club To Hold Business Development Workshop An online business workshop called “You Have A Business Idea Now What?” is set to be hosted by Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley, aiming to teach participants about developing their own businesses and brand identity. The free Life Forward workshop is scheduled for Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. via Zoom. According to Edna Dimataga-Fernandez, the Public Relations Committee Chair of Zonta Club SCV, the organization decided to host the workshop due to many losing jobs during the coronavirus pandemic. The workshop seeks to provide resources for those interested in starting their own business.
