this was a maintenance yard. to give folks an idea what we were talking about. this is the transportation authority that operates the santa clara county public transportation system. the bus system, the light rail system. also a major playing in the cal train system that runs through. we heard that hundreds work inside this facility. we do not believe this is a place where the public is able to get access to those sites. but we believe this is a maintenance yard. there are multiple casualties and injuries and among those injured there are vta employees. others we are told were evacuated from the scene. we do know the shooter is down. we do not know how the shooter
they came in to get people out. it is our active shooter protocol. the biggest thing is public safety. we want to get them safety as quick as we can. extricate, where did they go into? the building 101 west younger. i don t have that information. there is indoor around outdoor building. i don t have the information where it was. one more question. now is a moment for us to collect ourselves to understand what happened, to mourn, and to help those who have suffered, to heal. that will be my foreseeable fut. my attention will then be immediately turned to insuring we do everything possible to insure this never happens again in our city. and in the next 48 hours, i will be back in communication with you to talk about what we have been working on over the last year and a half and what we intend to do in the weeks to come to insure that we never see a horrific tragedy like this again in san jose. we are in a very dark moment, but i am heartened to see the response of the vta family coming together to help their
