Friday Total Tops 200 For Region
The Central and South Coasts are reporting the highest new COVID-19 case count so far this month, but part of the number is because of an accounting backlog.
207 cases were confirmed Friday. Ventura County reported 69, Santa Barbara County 119, and San Luis Obispo County 19. But, Santa Barbara County Public health officials say 65 of their 119 are actually from January.
The COVID-19 related death toll for the three counties stands at 1687.
The good news is that with vaccination rates increasing, and the infection rate decreasing, the region’s death rate has dropped dramatically.
