Isabell Werth earned her seventh gold and equestrian-record 11th medal overall. She had the second-best individual score in the competition. She trailed only teammate Jessica von Bredow-Werndl. Dorothee Schneider of Germany also rode well three months after a horse she was riding collapsed and died. That left her with a broken collarbone. The Germans have 13 Olympic titles in team dressage since the event was introduced at the 1928 Amsterdam Games. They have won medalsd in 16 straight Olympic team competitions.
