Rajesh N, a visitor to Sankey Lake, said, “Recently, I visited Sankey Lake, and this unexpected sight of seeing dead fish floating in the lake has raised worries and questions about the health of the lake and the well-being of its aquatic ecosystem. Sankey Tank, known for its serene surroundings and lush greenery, has always been a favourite among locals and tourists seeking a peaceful escape. The presence of lifeless fish floating on the lake’s surface has triggered a sense of unease among visitors, raising concerns about environmental issues.”
A frequent visitor to Sankey Tank, Vishwas Murthy, expressed his surprise by stating, “I regularly walk near Sankey Bund Road. However, I am surprised to see that the creepers on Sankey’s boundary net are drying up. When there is water in Sankey Lake and trees around, I wonder why the Sankey bund creepers are drying up. Is it because they are being removed or due to poor maintenance?”
To manage waste, including puja materials like flowers, banana leaves, and other items collected at disposal centres, officials were directed to ensure that cleaning staff and transport vehicles are equipped to collect and dispose of these materials properly in designated containers.”
Narrating interesting anecdotes, he said, “Someone informed me about the burial place of the film actress Manjula. When I visited Tumkuru, there used to be a Krishna temple, I encountered an inscription. My friends and I had difficulty deciphering a portion of it. I sought guidance from my mentor, KR Narasimhan, and together we revealed that Krishnadevaraya died on October 17, 1529.
