India News: PITHORAGRAH: The sky-high price of tomatoes over the past month across India has driven many people along the India-Nepal border in Pithoragarh distri.
The high prices of tomatoes in India, with prices ranging from Rs 120- Rs 130, have forced residents of Dharchula and Banbasa to cross into Nepal to buy them for just Rs 62- Rs 69. The Nepalese government has encouraged farmers to diversify from growing grains to vegetables, which has resulted in an increase in the growth of seasonal and non-seasonal vegetables. The farmers in Nepal were provided with seeds, fertilizers, polyhouses, and other agro-subsidies.
