KATHMANDU, March 24: The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed another committee to take action against the police officers implicated in gold smuggling due to serious negligence in their investigative duties.
KATHMANDU, Aug 15: After the government handed over the responsibility of investigating the recent gold smuggling case to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, the main opposition party in Parliament, the CPN-UML, has been demanding a high-level investigation committee to probe the scam.
KATHMANDU, Aug 8: After the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police started the investigation, the accused in the 100 kg gold smuggling case were remanded in custody on Monday. While they were in the custody of the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI), their remand was extended by the Patan High Court, the spokesperson of Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Kuber Kadayat said that remand has been extended for the first time by the Kathmandu District Court.
KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has started an investigation into the 100 kg gold smuggling case after the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) gave it the responsibility to do so. According to CIB sources, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjay Singh Thapa has been appointed as the chief investigation officer for the investigation into the gold smuggling case.
