Sanjay Nirupam, claimed he was expelled by the Congress party immediately after resigning, expressing surprise at the prompt action. Congress President approved his expulsion for six years due to indiscipline and anti-party statements. Another Congress leader, Gourav Vallabh, also quit citing discomfort with the party s direction.
