Kaiser Permanente’s mass vaccination site at Stockton Arena opens Wednesday at 8 a.m., after its original opening was postponed a week ago.
The site, originally scheduled to open on March 30, was delayed due to insufficient vaccine supply. However, they’ve now secured enough vaccines to begin their work.
“We did a lot of lobbying to the state, talked to some of our politicians and said ‘please get this started,’” San Joaquin County public health officer Dr. Maggie Park said during Tuesday morning’s Board of Supervisors meeting.
“Thankfully they were supplied the vaccines and are getting started early tomorrow,” she added.

The first round of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine continues to roll out in San Joaquin County.
On Wednesday, the vaccine was administered to eligible members of the staff at Doctors Hospital of Manteca in accordance with Food & Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, state and local guidelines.
On Thursday, vaccines were administered to staff at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp and Kaiser Permanente in Manteca.
Sandra Heinze was Kaiser Permanente s first employee to receive the vaccine in the Central Valley, according to a company spokesperson. As staff watched, Heinze, a registered ICU nurse at Kaiser Permanente in Manteca, said it didn t hurt a bit and that she didn t hesitate to take the shot.
