The number of new COVID-19 cases in Mumbai city and adjoining Thane continue to rise on a daily basis. In fact, with the addition of 1000 plus cases on Tuesday, the city has seen a spike of 7,000 cases in a week. On Tuesday, 1012 people tested positive while two people died and 1051 recovered from the virus. The active cases stand at 10,736. The doubling rate too has come down to 219 days. Meanwhile, in another development, the Mansukh Hiren death case lead to an uproar in the state assembly amid a war of words, with the MVA raising the issue of BJP MP Mohan Delkar s suicide. While Devendra Fadnavis demanded arrests of cop Sachin Vaze in the Hiren case, the MVA government has ordered SIT investigation in the Delkar case.

For the fifth time in a week, Mumbai city reported a spike in Covid-19 cases, with over 1000 people testing positive for the virus amid rising concerns. In fact, on Sunday, the city reported the highest number of cases in months with nearly 1,400 people testing positive for the virus. Five people also succumbed to the virus, taking the overall toll to 11,500. Whereas, 1020 people recovered in the last 24 hours. The active cases stand at 10,731. In Mumbai division, Thane city, Kalyan, Dombivali, Bhiwandi, Mira Bhayander, Palghar, Vasai, Virar and Raigad did not report a single COVID-19 fatality during the day. The recovery rate in the city is 93 per cent, while the doubling rate is 231 days. The cases also continue to rise in the state. COVID-19 cases for the last few days,
Maharashtra reported a dip in fresh cases on Monday. The state had reported over 10,000 new cases for the last three days. However, on Monday, Maharashtra reported 8,744 new infections. The caseload in the state rose to 22,28,471, while the death toll reached 52,500 with 22 fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours. As per information by the Health Department, 9,068 persons were discharged from hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 20,77,112. The state now has 97,637 active cases.
