Committee holds review of Ehsaas targetted subsidies programme

Daily Times July 16, 2021 Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Dr. Sania Nishtar Wednesday convened a meeting of steering committee to review the preparations of forthcoming Ehsaas Targeted Subsidies programme which would be implemented by December 2021. The steering committee for the programme has been constituted on the instructions of the Prime Minister. The Committee has been principally mandated to oversee the execution of the targeted commodity subsidies programme. Under Ehsaas, commodity subsidies will solely be administered through Ehsaas database. These targeted subsidies will be given on selected essential commodities. As a part of the programme preparations, Ehsaas has completed integration of its IT systems with those of Utility Stores Corporation (USC) for identification of Ehsaas beneficiaries and provision of targeted subsidies on selected commodities.

Daily Times July 15, 2021 Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Senator Dr. Sania Nishtar Wednesday spoke as a sole headline presenter at the international policy dialogue hosted by Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo. This was a one-year follow-up event, “From Emergency to Recovery: Social Safety Nets beyond the COVID-19 Crisis.” The high-level policy dialogue aimed to promote dialogue on the future of safety nets and social protection in Asia. It brought together policymakers who discussed country experiences and lessons learned from a year of safety nets. Dr. Sania keynoted the opening session and shared Pakistan’s story of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash last year, including the challenges and breakthroughs.

Ehsaas survey opens to determine deserving households for Kafaalat National February 25, 2021 Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Sania Nishtar Wednesday during a news conference formally opened Ehsaas survey in the Sargodha district. This was the fifth news briefing by Dr. Nishtar in a month with the accelerated execution of the Ehsaas survey post-COVID-19, said a message received here from Sargodha. “The new Ehsaas survey has begun in all seven Tehsils of Sargodha while it is 70 per cent ready nationwide and would realize by June 2021 to enrol seven million households living in extreme poverty,” she said.
