Mayville s Mayor, Steve Bensen, tells WZFG/WDAY Radio News that the power was restored at 4:42 p.m. to all residents in the communities. Bensen calls the weekend s events an unfortunate situation, but says Xcel Energy s North Dakota Principal Manager Tony Grindberg called him to update him on the situation. Bensen says the temporary transformer was delivered to Mayville at around 3:30 a.m. He says there will likely be a point-in-time where a more permanent solution will need to be implemented.

Update: Power outage in Traill County to last into Sunday

9:45 p.m. update: (Traill County, North Dakota) An Xcel Energy spokesman tells WZFG/WDAY Radio News that areas of the City of Mayville, in Traill County, will likely be without power until sometime Sunday. Matt Lindstrom, spokesman for Xcel Energy, tells WZFG/WDAY Radio News that the cause of the outage was an equipment issue at the substation located in the area of 2nd Avenue Northeast. Approximately 450 customers were still without power, he said. To correct the issue, a temporary transformer will be installed; Lindstrom says that will not happen until sometime on Sunday. Traill County Assistant Emergency Manager Ben Gates tells WZFG/WDAY Radio News that an emergency medical-only shelter will be available on an as-needed basis at the Mayville Armory. Anyone needing access to the medical-only shelter is asked to call Sanford Mayville Medical Center at 701-788-3800 or Traill County Dispatch at 701-636-4510.
