It was kind of chilly when we paid a visit to the Weidel farm on Kinderhook Road, just north of Columbia in Lancaster County. Felt like rain any minute. It was foggy. Very foggy. But it was a perfect day for taking tractor photos and the perfect setting to take them.
Joe and Sandy Weidel have lived on their 44- acre farm since 1977, when they bought it halfway through Joeâs 30-year career as a high school math teacher. After retiring from the classroom in June, 1996, Weidel farmed their 32 tillable acres full time until 2012.
Today he grows 2 acres of corn for the half-dozen steers he keeps in the barn. He rents the rest of the cropland to a neighbor.
