The grant, secured by the Newtown Economic Development Commission, fits into a larger partnership with a business group to transform a former 1-acre garage lot near the center of Sandy Hook Village into a trailhead and a park with a pavilion for special events. “There has been a lot of good activity down there, and this will help to increase it,” said Christal Preszler, Newtown’s deputy director for economic and community development. “Post-COVID, this is going to be great.”
