Sandy Bear Children s Bereavement Charity Sandy Bear Children s Bereavement Charity has publicly thanked the Port of Milford Haven, after the port voted Sandy Bear as their charity of the year. Each year, the Port of Milford Haven vote for a Pembrokeshire-based charity to support both financially and in-kind throughout the calendar year. Sandy Bear were announced as their supported charity for 2021, following 2020 seeing the port support Get The Boys A Lift, a mental health charity based in Haverfordwest. Formerly part of the Health Board, Sandy Bear has been operating since 1996 but became an independent organisation in 2017, achieving registered charity status in 2019.

Milford Haven child bereavement charity partner with children s author

Sandy Bear Children s Bereavement Charity has partnered up with Jess Childs, an author who writes about big issues for little people. The youth charity and author have joined forces to help support the increasing number of young people affected by bereavement. Jess is the author of Ivy and the Rock based on her own experiences of love and loss, which made her want to help the bereaved youth, particularly in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. There is a free reading of Ivy and the Rock by Jess herself, available to view on the Sandy Bear website. Jess mother Olwen, who tested positive for coronavirus, died in November after delayed cancer treatment following the first UK lockdown.

Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity provides group sessions for children who have been bereaved STAFF at the Port of Milford Haven have chosen Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity to be their official charitable cause of the year throughout 2021. Each year employees vote for a Pembrokeshire-based charity to receive both financial and in-kind support for twelve months. Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity was established in 1996 following an identified need for a child bereavement service in the county to support young people up to the age of 18 who have suffered, or who are likely to suffer, a bereavement, as well as their families.

Pembrokeshire Care, Share and Give donates for 12 days of Christmas

A Haverfordwest recycling charity has donated thousands of pounds, presents for children, and made sure rough sleepers are kept dry this Christmas. Over the 12 days of Christmas, Pembrokeshire Care, Share and Give (PCS&G) donated to a different charity each day, including toys to Patch and sleep pods to the Pembrokeshire Care Society. On each day they gave: Soft toys to Patch £200 to the Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity and have helped pay for the postage to send about 50 children Christmas presents and accessories Essential items and accessories for Ronald Mcdonald Houses - places for families to stay while their children are in hospital - in Cardiff and Bristol
