Argentine Championship: Fernando Peralta wins fifth title

Fernando Peralta defended his national title in the 98th Argentine Chess Championship. A native of Lomas de Zamora, he won this event for the fifth time, following his success in 2006, 2018, 2020 and 2022. Peralta defeated Federico Pérez Ponsa in a two-game rapid playoff to take the title. Hans Niemann dominates Capablanca Memorial

The 55th edition of the Capablanca Memorial took place on April 19-28 at the historic Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana. Hans Niemann from the United States dominated the Elite group, scoring 7½ points in the 10-player single round-robin. Sandro Mareco victorious at Mexico Open

A massive chess festival took place in Chihuahua, Mexico on April 12-17. Almost a thousand participants played in the numerous open tournaments, which included events for women, amateurs and different age categories. In the main event, Argentinian GM Sandro Mareco was the outright winner after scoring 7½ out of 9 points.
