A Cambridge police officer checking a van with its headlights on in a Southgate Parkway parking lot early Thursday morning made a grim discovery when they found the body of a 36-year-old city resident inside.
Authorities suspect the man died as the result of an accidental drug overdose. No foul play is suspected at this time, said Guernsey County Coroner Dr. Sandra Schubert.
Toxicology samples were collected and will be sent to a lab near Pittsburgh, Pa., for analysis. The results of the tests are not expected for several weeks.
According to Cambridge police reports, the discovery was made at approximately 12:45 a.m. when Ptl. Justice May found the man hunched over in the driver s seat. The van was parked outside a local store.
