A 10-acre, 216-unit apartment complex, which some call low-income housing and others work-force housing, came one step closer to becoming a reality when the Rio Rancho Governing Body, in a vote of 6 to 1, approved the project’s initial site plan application at its August 11 meeting.
The Sandoval County commission voted unanimously on Wednesday to issue revenue bonds in launching the construction of a 218-unit complex called Sandoval Flats on the northeast edge of Rio Rancho. The complex will be located at Camino Encantadas and Oersted Road about a half-mile northwest of NM 528 and Idalia Road. That's area is also within a couple blocks from buildings like the Sandoval County Office of Emergency Management and the Sandoval County Clerk building.
