During Thursday’s series of votes, also known as the “vote-a-rama” for the budget resolution, Senate Democrats torpedoed legislation that would protect newborn babies. The majority party blocked the passage of an amendment to the budget resolution mirroring the Born Alive Act, which would mandate that medical care be given to newborn babies who manage to survive a botched abortion.

Two vulnerable Senators up for reelection on the 2022 map sided with illegal immigrants, however. Sens. Raphael Warnock (GA) and Catherine Cortez Masto (NV) voted against the measure as their reelection cycle heats up. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) took a swing at the pair of vulnerable lawmakers following the vote, deeming them “too extreme” for the upper chamber.

Nearly 7,000 residents in North Carolina were told via text message last week that they tested positive for the Coronavirus despite not actually having contracted the disease.
“More than 6,700 individuals in Mecklenburg County in North Carolina were told in a text message sent from Mecklenburg County Health Department on Friday that they tested positive for COVID-19 and over 500 people were told through a county email that they were also infected with the novel coronavirus. But the results were incorrect due to a technical error by Health Space, the company they use for contact tracing, according to a statement on the county’s website,” reports Fox News.
