San Marcos Chief of Police Stan Standridge had just over a month under his belt in the position when he addressed the community in his first Chief Advisory Panel Meeting Monday night.
“I want to broaden the scope and purpose as to why we are here,” Standridge said. “Cite and release is such a small proponent of what we do on a daily basis. We need to have a much more detailed conversation.”
Standridge not only pledged his dedication to the task, stating San Marcos was his forever home, he pledged to address the deep societal issues plaguing the police department and the community.

SAN MARCOS, Texas San Marcos police have located a suspect involved in an aggravated robbery from December.
The incident happened at the Spirit Pit Stop at 1214 I-35 South around 6:50 p.m., police said.
According to police, the man entered and wandered around the business while waiting for all customers to leave. He then approached the counter, acting as if he was going to make a purchase before pulling out a handgun and demanding money from the register.
After taking money from the clerk, the man fled on foot behind the business, police said. He went southbound along Hines Street.

The San Marcos Police Department is seeking help identifying a suspect in a gas station robbery.
On Friday Dec. 11, San Marcos police responded to the report of an Aggravated Robbery at Spirit Pit Stop, 1214 South Interstate 35, and is asking the public for assistance in solving this crime.
At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Friday, an unidentified suspect entered Spirit and wandered around the business while waiting for all customers to leave. SMPD said after they departed, the suspect approached the counter acting as if he was going to make a purchase. He then produced a handgun from his hoodie pocket, pointed it at the clerk, and demanded cash from the register. After taking the cash from the clerk, the suspect fled on foot behind the business, police said.

On Thursday Dec. 10, San Marcos Police arrested Jason Jordan Trevino, 20, of San Marcos for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest and tampering with evidence.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to the 200 block of Armstrong for a reported aggravated assault. The victim informed officers that a young Black male pointed a black handgun at him as he confronted him about walking in his yard, and that he was accompanied by a young Hispanic female.
