The fate of Paul Flores is now in the hands of a jury who will decide whether or not he is guilty of killing California college student Kristin Smart, who mysteriously vanished in 1996.
Flores, 81, was arrested in April 2021 and charged with accessory to the crime. Jurors will soon come to a conclusion at Monterey County Superior Court in Salinas, California.
Prosecutors on Monday told the jury in the Kristin Smart case that Paul Flores was guilty as sin of her murder. The defense, meanwhile, said the case was based wholly on rumors.
Jurors are hearing closing statements in the Kristin Smart murder trial case against Paul Flores, while a separate jury will hear closing arguments in the case of Ruben Flores on Tuesday.
Smart is still missing, but the man last seen with her at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 1996 is on trial more than a year after he was arrested on a murder charge along with his father, who is accused of helping hide her body.
