The number of COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized in San Joaquin County dropped to 296 on Friday, a decrease of 5.1% since Thursday.
The San Joaquin County Emergency Medical Services Agency reported Friday afternoon that the county s seven hospitals are operating at 153% of licensed bed capacity. The county also reported six patient deaths from COVID-19.
Of the county’s 821 hospital beds in use, 296 (36%) are occupied by COVID-19 patients, and of the county’s 151 ICU beds in use, 76 (50%) are occupied by COVID-19 patients. All seven county hospitals are at capacity or are in surge capacity in their ICU, with Adventist Health Lodi Memorial at 190%, San Joaquin General Hospital at 175% of capacity, Kaiser Foundation Hospital Manteca at 167% and 160%. St. Joseph’s has the most COVID-19 patients in the ICU at 27.

COVID-19 hospitalizations and intensive care unit utilization remains high, but the numbers on Thursday were slightly improved from previous days this week.
COVID-19 patients admitted for care in San Joaquin County’s seven hospitals were lower Thursday than any day this week with 328 compared to 340 on Monday, 355 on Tuesday and 347 on Wednesday, according to the San Joaquin County Emergency Medical Services Agency.
On Thursday, ICUs were operating at 165% of licensed bed capacity, lower but still near the record high 175% reported on Monday.
Of the county’s 837 hospital beds in use, 328 (39%) are occupied by COVID-19 positive patients. Of the county’s 163 adult ICU beds in use, 95 (58%) are occupied by COVID-19 patients.
