good saturday morning. it is april 29th. good to have you along. i m victor blackwell. i m amara walker. you re in the cnn newsroom. we begin with ukraine and a deadly russian missile strike on an apartment complex. the attack killed almost two dozen people, including six children. and it s believed to be the deadliest strike on civilians since january. it happened 4:00 a.m. local time when most people were asleep. ukraine s air force says russia fired a barrage of long range cruise missiles from the aircraft in the caspian sea area. president volodymyr zelenskyy says his forces shot down 21 of the 23 missiles fired. cnn s nic robertson has been on the scene since shortly after the strike, joining us now from uman, ukraine. hi, nic. what s the latest there? it is bad news from here. the death toll is now 25. you can see the recovery efforts still going on. but this is really just pulling out the debris, getting that off the site here. and we ve been talking with firef
pinpointed the accused killer s location, in a wooded area less than two miles west of the bloody and horrific crime scene accused of shooting and kill five people including a 8-year-old boy. the killings were execution style and the victims were shot in the head. the shooting happened around 11:30 last night in the small texas town of cleveland about 45 miles north of houston. san jacinto county sheriff capers identified the suspect as 39-year-old francisco oropeza, he was firing an ar style rifle in his yard yesterday, or friday night. and they say a neighbor asked him to stop shooting that a baby was trying to sleep. and instead of putting down the weapon, he then killed four people in the house and the fifth person murdered was the 8-year-old boy. he later died at the hospital. the victims reportedly range in age from eight to 40 years old and they were all from honduras. the only thing i can tell you right now and in my this is still early in the investigation, one of
targets of assassination. alexandria hoff with the latest of the nation s highest court. justice alto called the speculation infuriating saying it doesn t make any sense given intensely how the conservative justices have been targeted since then. the rare interview comes before one year mark when politico published draft opinion justice alto told the wall street journal, quote, those of us who were thought to be in majority, were really targets of assassination. the justice also revealed that he thinks the supreme court marshal did a good job of the investigation that followed the leak and agreed that there was not enough evidence to make a public accusation. he added this, i personally have a pretty good idea who is responsible but that s different from the level of proof that is needed to name somebody. alto feels that the motivation was clear. despite weeks of protestors by advocates including outside of homes of conservative justices in that time an armed man was charge
