This is a view of the Grand Canal during the Vogalonga from the bell tower at San Giorgio Maggiore Church, on the island of the same name. It gives you an idea of the size of the canal. We occasionally saw cruise ships in the distance when we were eating breakfast.

A 36.6-Percent Increase in Ebook Sales
Trade book publishing in Italy overall grew by 2.4 percent in 2020, for a total of some €1.54 billion (US$1.9 billion), based on cover prices and according to data presented today (January 29) as part of the 38th Scuola per Librai Umberto e Elisabetta Mauri program.

A Three-Hour Program
After 37 years of successful iterations in Venice, Italy’s Scuola per Librai Umberto e Elisabetta Mauri arrives digitally on screens in many parts of the world Friday (January 29).
With everyone hoping that this is the only year they can’t convene among the gracious arches of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, the program, devoted to “The State of the Book in Europe,” will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CET / 9 a.m. to noon GMT /4 to 7 a.m. ET.
The 66-room property will be located in a historical ecclesiastical compound, which has hosted crusaders, pilgrims and tourists over more than eight centuries.
Located on the Riva Ca di Dio overlooking the Venetian Lagoon and adjacent to the Arsenal and the Biennale gardens, the property is within walking distance of St. Mark s Square.
The hotel will be part of the V-Retreats collection, a new class of properties managed by Italy s VOI Hotels.

The project was created by Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola and is being designed to resemble a Venetian mansion, with elements like Murano glass and custom finishes.

Venice s newest 5-star hotel, Ca di Dio, will be born in May 2021. The hotel sits within a transformed ecclesiastical compound dating from 1272 that has hosted Crusaders, pilgrims and tourists for more than eight centuries.
Located on the Riva Ca di Dio, the hotel overlooks Venice s legendary lagoon, and is located adjacent to the Arsenale and the gardens that house the city s Biennale, one of the world s most iconic art festivals and exhibitions. The Ca di Dio is an easy stroll along the waterfront from bustling St. Mark s Square.
