Brackero, i live at 1047 and looking at eviction the day before thanksgiving. I look at this as a state of emergency because the options are nil and to have to move out of the city or out of the state because that is going to be the option for some of us. It is not affordable, oakland is no longer affordable, there have been people we have contacted us saying, hey, if you want to move to richmond and have a livework space, i am an accountant and i am part of the people who have made it desirable for these developers to come in there. I hope this is treated as an emergency, all of us deserve to be here and i appreciate your time and your consideration. Thank you. Thank you, maam. Next speaker, please. Hithere, may name is chris baker and ive lived at 1049 market for 11 years, i want to thank our mayor and the dbi for their help in getting the demolition permit that was used as a justification for the evictions of half of the tenants in our building, to get that permit suspended. Maybe what happened in the late 90s is because in the late 90s we werent having the buyouts and the threats that are pushing people out. I think if we calculate in the buyouts and the threats we definitely have more evictions than we did back then because a buyout and a threat of an eviction that drives somebody out is an eviction as far as im concerned. Id like to express my support for the legislation thats been proposed, the repeals and reforms of the ellis act, the legislation being proposed by the antidisplacement group, i hope all these things happen and they have an effect on the speculation thats happening in our city. I know people have talked about the lack of Affordable Housing. It is avery real problem. I have an idea how we can address that too. I think when we are developing these Community Benefits packages with the developers and with the Tech Companies we need to think about charging them a fee for coming, for doing development and for coming in this city. Police officers from different counties are working tonight to try to put an end to wilding before it takes a hold of the bay area. And they were just jumping all over the places. Reporter he said he is the one who called Police Last Week when a large group of teenagers started to get unruly at the bay fair b. A. R. T. Station. Everybody concerned about the safety, you know, kids like that walking in a group is not a good idea. Reporter that is why the sheriffs deputies and b. A. R. T. Police hung around the b. A. R. T. Station for hours tonight. Its the first step to put an end to flash mob attacks that are starting to take ahold of the east bay corridor. You can only imagine what its like five Police Officers to show up and confront 100, to 150 people.
Reaching nearly 200 miles an hour bringing a 20foot storm surge Strong Enough to put this massive tanker onshore on top of homes. Incredible. Survivors are picking through what is left. You can see there is not much. Many appear to be in shock and wander the streets and beg for help. Bill mike, from manila, what is the latest there . Reporter what theyre saying now, bill and martha, they have basically, are saying that america has returned. This is the spot where Douglas Mcarthur made his famous statement i shall return. America has returned and america returned to help and that is what the people in the city right now are saying. Two u. S. Marine c130s filled with relief goods have been doing nonstop flights into the city doing what they can to help. Obviously the Philippine Government has been there since day one. They have been doing all they can but they dont have planes that can fly at night and into such terrible situations and this is where the marine and aviators really needed
