Ray Huard covers the city of Oceanside. A New England native, he has a bachelor's degree in English literature and has worked on newspapers in Massachusetts, Florida and California covering a wide range of topics from national and state politics and local government to the environment, energy and science. He came to the U-T in 1989. He has won several awards from the San Diego Press Club and the San Diego Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
