Local comics to perform in Zoom comedy show to benefit San Diego Food Bank Feb. 25, 2021 8:05 AM PT Print Carmel Valley resident Kathy Krevat and Rancho Santa Fe resident Carol Johnson are performing in a Zoom stand-up comedy show to raise funds for the San Diego Food Bank on Friday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. Kathy Krevat (Courtesy) Dr. Mo’s Comedy Show has been running via Zoom once a month since April, in an effort to bring humor into people’s homes and allow comedians to hone their skills. Proceeds from most of her 2021 shows will go toward a variety of charities. For February and March, the majority of the proceeds will go directly to support the San Diego Food Bank.

Students discuss world hunger via Zoom Grauer School students recently received a personal briefing on the problem of world hunger with a member of the United Nations World Food Programme, which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its efforts to aid those in conflict zones and areas devastated by natural disasters. Students and teachers participated in a Zoom call with Mirjam Jaring, who is based in Rome, headquarters of the World Food Programme. After Jaring gave a brief presentation and showed a video about the WFP’s work, she took questions from the students and teachers. Juniors and seniors from Grauer’s U.S. history, English and economics classes participated.“The discussion allowed our students to learn about the WFP’s vital work to save lives and change lives around the world, and hopefully it will inspire them to do their part to assist those in need, both during their school careers and after they go out into the world as the leaders of tomorrow,” said Stuart Gr

An iconic leader, Baza made a huge impact on San Diego s LGBTQ and arts communities Larry Baza, a beloved and longtime San Diego LGBTQ activist, died on Saturday due to complications from COVID-19.
