Converse brothers helped re-establish Edison baseball

Luke Converse wasn’t a typical kid, according to his mother Kim Lerma.
When the recent Edison graduate was too young to play, he went to his older brother Jake Converse’s Catholic Youth Organization games and didn’t act like his peers. His attention was directed at the playing field.
“Luke would sit and watch,” said Lerma, who is the girls’ athletic coordinator at Whittier Middle School. “He wasn’t playing around the playground, like the other kids. So, when he started playing, he didn’t have to learn too much.”
