Port Huron Times Herald
About two dozen people congregated at a grass field in Port Huron Township Saturday night to lay candles and flowers at the site where their friend and coworker, Samuel Ian Pearson, was found dead.
Several people pounded crosses into the earth with Pearson s name on them. The mourners wrote messages to Pearson with black Sharpie on white paper lanterns and released them into the sky.
St. Clair County Sheriff deputies were called to the 3000 block of Howard Street at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a dead body in a field. Deputies were directed by a witness to a vacant lot, where his body was located.
