Tesla launched the new Model S and X with several new features. Of those, the most radical change was the two new vehicles came without a gear shifter stalk.
Tesla replaced this crucial part with an AI gear shifter that predicts where the vehicle should go by considering its surroundings, the owner’s schedule, calendar, and the time of day.
Troy hasn’t shared the reason behind this move. And on Twitter said, “things are fluid, and plans change quickly and this is the latest plan.” Hinting that Tesla might end up changing back their plans and produce the Model Y first.
However, if Tesla sticks to the current plan, Troy says the Model Y program at Giga Texas is still progressing fast and the vehicle won’t be too far behind the Cybertruck. Troy estimates the Model Y will come 2 months behind the Cybertruck.
Here is my impression:
Things are fluid and plans change quickly and this is the latest plan. However, Model Y is not too far away, maybe 2 months behind the Cybertruck.
