Nearly a week after Malaysia Airlines flight 17 left amsterdam, some of the 298 people on board were flown back today in wooden caskets, borne by military planes. It was a national day of mourning in the netherlands. Twothirds of the passengers killed when the plane was shot down over ukraine were dutch. We have reports tonight from both countries. Reporter six days of confusion and indignity ended at last when two military transports, one dutch and one australian, brought the first 40 victims of the crash back to the netherlands. The International Criminal Court is also looking into issuing arrest warrants for three senior Hamas leaders, a move US president Joe Biden slammed as outrageous, saying there is "no equivalence" between Israel and Hamas.
The development came amid efforts by international mediators, including the US to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. The militant Hamas group and Qatar, a key mediator, have warned that invading Rafah, along the border with Egypt, could derail the talks.
