The Centre today requested the Supreme Court to consider leaving questions raised in the pleas seeking legal sanction for same sex marriages to Parliament.
The five-judge Constitution Bench led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud is hearing petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriages through rewording of the Special Marriage Act (SMA), 1954.
During the previous hearing, the Supreme Court bemoaned the fact that answers to its queries and comments to counsel were being delivered on social media.
